Carnival of Music

Come one, come all!  Join our carnival of music!!  This year in lessons, students can earn tickets towards an end-of-year carnival.  Tickets are earned in the following ways:

  • Learn one page of music
    • play it acceptably, earn one ticket
    • play it very well, earn two tickets
    • play it excellently, earn three tickets
    • memorize it, earn five tickets
  • Learn technique exercises
    • play them acceptably, earn one ticket
    • play them very well, earn two tickets
    • play them excellently, earn three tickets
  • Learn scales
    • play one octave, hands alone, earn one ticket
    • play one octave, hands together, earn two tickets
    • play two octaves, hands alone, earn three tickets
    • play two octaves, hands together, earn four tickets
  • Sight read a piece
    • sight read it acceptably, earn one ticket
    • sight read it very well, earn two tickets
    • sight read it excellently, earn three tickets
  • Learn a piece of music on your own
    • play it acceptably, earn one ticket
    • play it very well, earn two tickets
    • play it excellently, earn three tickets
    • memorize it, earn five tickets
  • Complete an on-line musical activity (teacher approved), earn two tickets
  • Write a one-page report on a composer, earn five tickets
  • Attend an approved musical event, earn five tickets
  • Perform for an audience:
    • an audience of 5-10 people, earn three tickets
    • an audience of 11-20 people, earn four tickets
    • an audience of 21+ people, earn five tickets
Tickets will be kept at the studio to prevent accidental loss.  All tickets will be counted up the day of the spring recital.  Students who have earned 200 tickets will receive an invitation to our carnival.  Additional tickets will be used to participate in games and purchase food and treats at our carnival.  So, start working on those assignments and songs.  We're going to have a fantastic carnival!
